Using FamilyRetold

FamilyRetold helps you record and keep family stories. The current archive service is free. Keep your own exports of irreplaceable material; the service is not a permanent preservation guarantee.

You retain your rights to the stories and media you upload. Upload only material you have permission to use, and ask for consent before recording someone. You control who receives your studio, listening and exported archive links or files.

Review words, names and dates for accuracy. Browser transcription can make mistakes. Keepsake and recipient notes are personal family records, not estate documents or transfers of ownership.

The native app can be used locally without an account. Connecting a device or sending a story to a hosted archive is optional and subject to the archive owner’s approval. Removing a connection does not remove files already downloaded to that device.

Do not use FamilyRetold for unlawful or abusive content, unauthorized recordings, harassment, or attempts to access someone else’s archive. We may restrict misuse or requests that exceed the published storage limits.

Hardcover printing, paid services, external AI editing and automated interviews are not currently offered. Any future paid service will show its price and terms before purchase.
